Allow user to select extract destination folder<\/h3>\n

Allows the user to select the extraction folder to use during extraction<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The operation when combined with [Specify default extract destination folder] is described below.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Do not confirm creating a folder<\/h3>\n

Does not display a confirmation message to confirm creating a new folder when the folder specified as the extraction<\/a> folder does not exist.<\/p>\n

Specify default extract destination folder<\/h3>\n

Specifies a folder to be the extraction<\/a> destination. First a folder category is specified with [Base Folder]<\/span>, and then, if necessary, a sub-folder is specified with [Sub Folder]<\/span>.<\/p>\n

\"specify<\/a>\u00a0The name of the sub-folder specified with [Sub Folder]<\/span> is added to the copy destination folder name when [Add to Reference Folder Name]<\/span> in the [Specify Copy Destination Folder]<\/span> for the self-extracting program<\/a> is clicked.<\/p>\n

Details of the extraction destination<\/h3>\n

The extraction destination may vary from this description depending on the OS and the installation conditions. Even when varying from this description, EXEpress 6 checks the Windows installation condition and extracts to an appropriate folder.<\/p>\n

Special processes during automatic execution.<\/h4>\n

When [Delete all extracted files after automatic execution completes]<\/span> in the [Detailed Settings: Automatic Execution]<\/span> dialog box is on, EXEpress 6 does not extract to the specified folder.<\/p>\n

Instead, a sub-folder named \u201ceptemp.$$$\u201d is created in the specified [Base Folder]<\/span>, a sub-folder specified with [Sub Folder]<\/span> is created in the \u201ceptemp.$$$\u201d folder, and the files are extract<\/a>ed and then execute automatically.<\/p>\n

After the automatic execution, all files in the \u201ceptemp.$$$\u201d sub-folder are deleted.<\/p>\n

Extracting to multiple folders<\/h4>\n

Set files to extract<\/a> to both the [Program Files Folder]<\/span> and the [Windows Folder]<\/span>using the following procedure.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \n

    Specify which folder to specify as the extraction destination with this dialog box. Here, the [Program Files Folder]<\/span> is specifiedm.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    Set the files extracted to the [Program Files Folder]<\/span> that are to be copied to the [Windows Folder]<\/span> using [Files to copy to a separate folder]<\/span> in the [Advanced Settings: Special Processes]<\/span> dialog box.<\/p>\n

    Extract with file attributes<\/h3>\n

    The file attributes, such as \u201cRead only,\u201d \u201cHidden,\u201d and \u201cSystem,\u201d associated with the source file when creating the archive file<\/a>, are restored during extraction<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    When this option is off, attributes for all files are set to \u201cnormal file.\u201d<\/p>\n

    Use self-extracting filename as extract destination folder name.<\/h3>\n

    A sub-folder with the \u201cself-extracting executable file base name (the portion remaining when removing the folder name and extension from the file name)\u201d is created in the extraction<\/a> folder and the files are extracted to the created sub-folder.<\/p>\n

    Hide “Open install destination folder” after extraction completes<\/h3>\n

    Hides the check box for \u201cOpen installation folder\u201d on the last page displayed when extraction<\/a> completes.
    \n Note that when     automatic execution<\/a> settings have been made, this setting is disabled because the last page is not displayed.<\/p>\n

    Overwrite verification during extraction<\/h3>\n

    Asks the user \u201cOverwrite (O)\/Skip (S)\/Overwrite All (A)\/Cancel (C)\u201d when a file with the same name already exists in the extraction destination during extraction<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    Hide \u201cConfirm file overwrite\u201d<\/h3>\n

    The check box for \u201cConfirm file overwrite\u201d on the page to specify the extraction<\/a> folder is hidden. If no other condition settings are performed, the files are overwritten.<\/p>\n

    If this option is off, overwrite is performed without confirmation.<\/p>\n

    In case overwrite failed<\/h3>\n

    Selects the operation when overwriting files fails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
    Fail then terminate<\/th>\n\n

    Cancel extracting.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    Continue to try until successful<\/th>\n\n

    Display alert and try to overwrite.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    Overwite with restart<\/th>\n\n

    Registers a process to overwrite the appropriate files in the Windows OS restart process and urges the user to restart the Windows OS.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

    Do not overwrite if there is a more recently updated file<\/h3>\n

    When a file with the same name already exists in the extraction<\/a> destination, if the modification date of the existing file is newer than the modification date of the file to be extracted, the overwrite is skipped.<\/p>\n

    Show “Overwrite even if there are newer files”<\/h3>\n

    When this suboption is enabled, “Overwrite even if there are newer files” check box will appear in the wizard of self-extracting executables. If user checks it, files with newer timestamps will be overwritten without skipping.<\/p>\n

    By including a version name in the name of the self-extracting executable file<\/a>, you can automatically allocate the extraction by version.<\/p>\n

    When the name of the self-extracting executable file<\/a> is changed later, the sub-folder is created using the base name portion of the changed file name.<\/p>\n

    Save extract destination in the registry, and use as the extract destination next time<\/h3>\n

    The folder name that is finally the extraction<\/a> location is registered in the registry key specified here.<\/p>\n

    The self-extracting program<\/a> references this registry key during startup. If an extraction destination is already registered, the extraction destination registered in the registry rather than the extraction destination in the self-extracting program takes priority and is the default extraction destination.<\/p>\n

    Also, this registry data can be used to get the installation location folder path for external programs such as installed programs and the expansion module for the EXEpress uninstaller<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    For example, specify the following when saving to a key named \u201cPath\u201d in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMySoftMy ApplicationSetting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
